Frequently asked questions

Q. "Is the ferry included in the package?"
A. Wheeltrax do not include a ferry crossing within the package price for two reasons.
1. Not being tied to one port of departure lets you choose which port best suits your needs and geographical location.
2. With so many fantastic ferry deals on the market we give you the best possible chance of tracking down the best offers.

Q. "Do you offer hire bikes?"
A. At this time we are not able to provide hire bikes. We are currently working to rectify the situation.

Q. "How do I find the hotel?"
A. We have detailed directions from most of the major ports to print off on our website. If you have SatNav the GPS location is available from us at the time of booking.
*In most cases a guide is available to meet you around the Cologne area.

Q. "What if I cant make the advertised dates?"
A. If the dates that we advertise do not fit in with your schedule we can arrange dates to suit.
*N.B. For bookings outside of the scheduled tour dates we require a*booking minimum of 4 people (inc pillions).

Q. "What are your group sizes?"
A. Our tours normally consist of between 4 and 8 bikes. We can arrange single groups up to 10 bikes on request. For larger bookings we will allocate a second guide and run two separate groups (up to 16 bikes total). Training specific tours will be limited to 6 bikes.
*N.B. For bookings outside of the scheduled tour dates we require a booking minimum of 4 people (inc pillions).

Q. "Is a late booking possible?"
A. Yes. We class bookings of 6 weeks, or less, to the tour start date as a "late booking". If you are planning a tour within this period please contact us to make the arrangements.

Q. "What is Sports-Touring?"
A. Sports-Touring is biased toward total riding pleasure. With the emphasise on "making progress" we have no luggage to hinder us. The pace is as quick as feels comfortable to the group.

Q. "Can you cater for a more "Traditional" tour?"
A. Certainly. When booking for a group we will always ensure you receive exactly the package you need.

Q. "Am I insured to ride the Nurburgring?"
A. The "Nordschleife" (ie. the bit of the 'ring you would be riding on) is classed as "a one way public toll road with no speed limit".

What this means is that all vehicles must be fully road legal; it also means that all 'Ring users are subject to the normal rules, regulations and laws of the road. To give you an example. If someone is found to have caused an accident on the Ring, the police can actually come on to the "circuit" and prosecute!

As it is not classed as a race track and all racing (inc lap timing) is banned (absolut verboten).....

Your insurance policy MUST specifically mention the Nurburgring Nordschleife by name as an excluded section of road if your insurer does not want to cover you to ride there. So, check your policy (carefully) and if there is no mention of the Nurburgring Nordschleife then you are covered.

If you have any doubts at all contact your insurer/broker and get them to check. Dont be fobbed off. Many will say " ah, yes. your not covered for use on the race track." But thats not what you want to know. It not a race track. Keep pushing. "Its not a race track or a circuit. Please check to see if it is excluded from my policy BY NAME".

If they cant point you to the bit in your policy specifically excluding you from being insured on the Nurburgring Nordschleife then you are covered.

Q. "What happens if I cancel my tour?"
A. Your deposit is non-refundable. However more information regarding cancellation charges is included in the Wheeltrax Terms and Conditions

Q. "Is my money safe?"
A. All payments forwarded to us are held in trust until the satisfactory completion of you holiday.
